Before I started practicing photography, I was actively honing my skills in traditional art media. I became fairly proficient with most two-dimensional media (pencils, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, oils), but I was always slow in completing any projects. I haven't used these skills for a while, but I assume my abilities have improved over time.

I'm a primarily self-taught photographer, constantly learning. Started taking pictures in 2002 with a point and shoot digital camera. I pointed and I shot. I soon found that my snapshots were more gratifying than my art and began to carry my camera at all times. After a few months I read the manual. When my first camera lost all ability to function, I got another digital camera with some manual functions. More senseless shooting ensued. Spring of 2006 I took my first photography class, for which I had to purchase a 35mm film camera (shot with black and white film). At this point, I learned: what shutter speed and aperture were, and how to load film. During the first class critique, a few of my portraits got favorable comments. I then decided to have people model so that I could improve my portrait photography, because previously most of the portraits were just spontaneous. My processing skills were slower to develop. In 2007 I learned that the colors the camera captured aren't true to life and acquired the ability to see the slight differences in color. (Some pictures here are still off in color.) I also started making prints and am currently attempting to put up large framed prints in various locations.

Currently studying at the University of Texas in Austin for my B.A. in Studio Art.

Artistic process: I simply take pictures of things that I think would be interesting. Or that I think somebody else would like to see. I don't like to repeat myself or focus on any subject matter for too long. I use Photoshop to fix the colors and brightness/contrast. I don't add any elements to the picture that shouldn't be there, and I don't erase anything that was in the actual image. However, there are a few pictures that have been cropped.

If you like what you see, I would be glad to teach you everything I know.
